Salesforce lists five editions on its Service Cloud pricing page, and the first two are its general CRM suites. The service product itself starts at Core, $195 a user a month billed annually, and runs to Max at $550. Every price is per user, and only Starter Suite can be paid month to month. Messaging, voice and most AI usage are priced on top of the edition.
How the editions differ
- Starter Suite, $25 a user a month, billed monthly or annually. Salesforce describes it as a CRM suite for sales, service, marketing and commerce. Web and email case capture, auto-assignment and escalation rules are on it already
- Pro Suite, $100 a user a month, billed annually, contract required. Adds real-time chat and more customisation and automation
- Core, $195 a user a month, billed annually. Case management, a self-service help centre, Slack Business+ and the Premier Success Plan with 24/7 support for business-stopping issues
- Advanced, $395 a user a month, billed annually. Adds an AI agent for customer service, web chat, a full sandbox, Backup & Recover and Data Detect
- Max, $550 a user a month, billed annually. Adds unmetered Agentforce for Service, digital channels, workforce and quality management, Tableau Next and Slack Enterprise+
- Both suites are labelled starting prices with transaction fees on top, and the page doesn't say what those fees are
- An older quote that names Enterprise, Unlimited or Agentforce 1 maps to Core, Advanced and Max, per Salesforce's own FAQ
What the edition price leaves out
- Messaging. Enhanced Messaging (WhatsApp, Apple Messages for Business, Facebook Messenger and SMS) costs an additional $75 a user a month on Core and Advanced, per the comparison table. Max includes it
- Voice. Contact Center (native voice plus digital channels) is $125 a user a month, and Contact Center Plus, which adds workforce and quality management, is $250. Max customers buy Contact Center Voice instead, at $75 a user a month with unlimited platform voice minutes. All three are annual contracts
- Usage packs. Salesforce's contact center FAQ says some components need more usage bought over time: messaging packs, surveys, bot sessions and hours of conversation insights. None of those are priced on the page
- AI past the included credits. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000. A standard Agentforce action uses 20 credits ($0.10) and a voice action 30 ($0.15). Salesforce also sells AI at $2 per conversation, or $2 per resolution for its Help Agent
- Unmetered AI for your own staff is the Agentforce add-on at $125 a user a month on Core and Advanced. Max includes it
- Workforce and quality management are $50 a user a month each below Max
The AI credits each edition includes
- Core comes with 500K Flex Credits and Advanced with 1 million, per the FAQ. Max comes with 2.75 million per org per year. The page footnotes these as "limited credits included"
- At list price that is $2,500, $5,000 and $13,750 of usage (500,000 ÷ 100,000 × $500 = $2,500, and so on)
- Salesforce's own order-status example takes two actions, 40 credits or $0.20, per request. At that rate Core's allowance covers 12,500 order-status conversations (500,000 ÷ 40), and Max's covers 68,750
- Max's credits are per org, so adding seats adds cost without adding credits. The FAQ gives no period for Core's and Advanced's allowances, which is a question for the sales call
A worked example: 10 agents, billed annually
- Core alone: 10 × $195 = $1,950 a month, $23,400 a year
- Core with Enhanced Messaging: 10 × ($195 + $75) = $2,700 a month, $32,400 a year
- Core with Contact Center for voice and digital: 10 × ($195 + $125) = $3,200 a month, $38,400 a year
- Max: 10 × $550 = $5,500 a month, $66,000 a year
- Max with Contact Center Voice: 10 × ($550 + $75) = $6,250 a month, $75,000 a year
- None of these include usage packs, extra Flex Credits or implementation. Salesforce points you to its Professional Services team and certified partners for that, without a published price
Which edition fits which team
- Core suits a company already running Salesforce for sales that wants cases on the same customer record, with email and a help centre as the main channels
- Advanced makes sense when you want the AI agent answering customers without buying it separately, or when a full sandbox and backups are compliance requirements
- Max wins on arithmetic once you need most of its parts. Core plus Enhanced Messaging, the Agentforce add-on, workforce management and quality management is $195 + $75 + $125 + $50 + $50 = $495 a user a month, $55 short of Max, which also brings 2.75 million credits
- Starter and Pro Suite are for buying the CRM first and growing into service later
- In our view a DTC brand with a handful of agents should look elsewhere. Six agents on Core alone is 6 × $195 × 12 = $14,040 a year before a single channel add-on, which is a lot to pay for email and a help centre
- Salesforce offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card. It tests case handling, and the add-on bill only shows up in the quote
