BoldDesk is the help desk built by Syncfusion, the developer-tools company, and it is now sold as a single plan: every feature at every price, with the bill set by how many AI credits you buy each month. SSO, audit logs, SLAs and multi-brand are not tier-gated, because there are no feature tiers. The thing to settle before anything else is seats: each credit tier includes a set number of human agents (2 at 500 credits, 5 at 1,000, 250 at 50,000), and extra agents are $20 per agent per month.

What it does

  • Shared inbox and ticketing across email, live chat, WhatsApp, voice, SMS, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Facebook and Instagram; the pricing page also lists Telegram
  • Three kinds of AI agent: Support (talks to customers on any channel and hands off), Background (runs on every ticket for field prediction, sentiment and auto-merge) and Assist (drafts, rewrites and translates inside the editor)
  • Rules decide when an AI agent runs. Its output goes in as a private note for review or updates type, category, priority, status and tags automatically
  • AI can take actions such as checking an order, issuing a refund or updating an account once you connect API Tools or MCP servers, with approval steps where you want them
  • Knowledge base with public and private, multilingual and multi-brand versions, article versioning and approval, and ticket-to-article conversion
  • Round robin, load and skill routing, SLA escalations, time-based automations, agent shift management, CSAT, custom dashboards and scheduled reports
  • Listed integrations include Shopify, Stripe, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Jira, Zapier and webhooks, plus a BoldDesk MCP server
  • Missing: SCIM provisioning and contractual data residency, which are offered only on a custom contract above 50,000 credits a month

Pricing at a glance

BoldDesk plans and prices
PlanBilled monthlyBilled annuallyWhat you get
BoldDesk AI$116$991,000 AI credits / month with 5 human agents included.

Prices in US dollars. Source: bolddesk.com/pricing, checked .

  • One plan, priced by monthly AI credit volume. Tiers run from 500 to 50,000 credits, and above that you contact sales
  • 1,000 credits: $116 billed monthly, $99 a month billed annually ($1,188 a year), 5 human agents included
  • The page opens on the yearly toggle at the 1,000-credit tier, so the first figure you see is the discounted one
  • Every other tier's price is drawn in JavaScript and was not readable. We have not published those figures; ask for a quote or check the rendered page
  • Included agents grow with the tier: 2 at 500 credits, 250 at 50,000 credits
  • Extra human agents: $20 per agent per month on any plan (the page does not say whether annual billing discounts this)
  • Credit top-up: $40 per 1,000 credits, a one-off purchase valid until your next renewal date
  • Yearly billing saves 15% on every credit tier, according to the pricing page
  • Above 50,000 credits: contact sales for volume pricing, annual credit pooling, SCIM, data residency and a custom contract
  • Free trial on every tier

AI pricing

  • You pay for the work, not the outcome. Credits are charged by task complexity, not by whether the ticket gets resolved
  • Low, 1-2 credits: answer from the knowledge base, summarise, draft or translate a reply
  • Medium, 3-5 credits: one skill or one or two connected systems, such as "where is my order", creating a Jira issue or resetting a password
  • High, 8-12 credits: chained skills across systems, such as checking whether an order qualifies for a refund and then processing it
  • Not billed: a handoff to a human with no AI answer
  • Background features that are switched on run on every ticket, including the ones your humans answer. BoldDesk does not publish what each one costs per ticket
  • Rough arithmetic at the published rates: 1,000 credits covers about 250 order-status lookups at 4 credits each. At the top-up rate, each lookup costs 12-20 cents
  • In-plan credits at the 1,000 tier work out to 11.6 cents each on monthly billing, against 4 cents for a top-up credit. The plan price also pays for the platform and five seats, so this is not a like-for-like comparison, but it is worth pricing top-ups against the next tier up
  • No automatic overage. Alerts go out at 80% and 100%, and after that new conversations go to humans until you top up, upgrade or reach the reset date
  • What it can't do out of the box: take order or refund actions until someone connects the systems through API Tools or MCP. Whether the Shopify integration gives you anything prebuilt is something we could not verify

Before you commit

  • Count your seats before you pick a tier. Only 5 agents come with 1,000 credits, and each extra agent is $20 per agent per month. For a 15-agent team at 1,000 credits, that is $116 plus $200 a month
  • Credits don't roll over. Monthly credits reset each billing month and top-ups lapse at renewal. Only custom plans above 50,000 credits can pool credits across the year
  • Measure what Background agents spend during the trial, using the AI Credit Usage Dashboard. Field prediction and sentiment on every inbound ticket can use up credits before the customer-facing AI has answered anything
  • A hard stop with no overage protects the budget, but it also means the AI goes quiet in the middle of a sales peak unless someone is watching the 80% alert
  • Order edits and refunds are something you build yourself. Run the demo against your own store and order system, not the sample data
  • "Regional Data Centers" appears in the everything-included list, yet the FAQ only offers data residency on a custom contract above 50,000 credits. Ask which one applies to you
  • The homepage claims a 99.9% uptime SLA. We did not read the SLA terms or the status history
  • BoldDesk advertises free migration and onboarding (tickets, contacts and articles). Ask what the offer covers

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Who should buy

  • Small teams of five or fewer who want SSO, audit logs, SLAs and multi-brand without paying for an enterprise tier
  • Brands running several storefronts that need separate knowledge bases and branding from one desk
  • Teams with a developer on hand to connect order and billing systems as AI actions
  • Buyers who would rather have the AI pause than receive a surprise overage invoice

Who should skip it

  • Shopify shops that want order editing inside the ticket on day one without any setup work
  • Anyone who wants AI billed only when it resolves a ticket, since failed attempts still use credits
  • Large seasonal teams on a low credit tier, since only 5 agents come with 1,000 credits and each extra agent is $20 a month
  • Teams that need SCIM or data residency but will never reach 50,000 credits a month
  • Teams with nobody assigned to watch a credit meter during peak weeks

How we checked this

The figures above come from BoldDesk's own pages, read on 2026-10-06: the pricing page, the homepage and the About page. The pricing page shows only the default 1,000-credit tier as text. The $116 monthly and $99 annual figures come from the page's own FAQ, and every other tier is drawn in JavaScript, so we need a human screenshot of both toggle states before publishing those prices. When we rechecked on 2026-10-12, the homepage listed the same included-agent counts and the same monthly credit reset as the pricing page, so the seat and rollover conflicts in our first draft are gone. The pages still disagree on data residency, and we recorded that conflict rather than choosing the more flattering reading. We could not read BoldDesk's Shopify integration page, SLA terms, security page or status page during this check, and we could not confirm the headquarters or founding year on the pages we read. No review-site text was used.
