Keeping Review
Help desk that turns shared Gmail addresses into assignable, trackable tickets.

Keeping is a shared inbox that runs inside Gmail. A Chrome extension adds assignment, statuses, notes and tags to the Gmail window your team already has open. Replies go out from your support address and look like ordinary email. It only works with email and only with Google, and it was built that way. That makes it one of the cheapest ways to stop two people answering the same customer. It is the wrong tool for any shop whose customers are in chat or DMs.

What it does
- Turns a support@ or info@ mailbox, a Google Group or a Gmail alias into tickets you work from inside Gmail. A web portal covers working outside Gmail
- Tickets can be open, pending or closed and can go to one or more teammates. Every conversation has an activity log
- Collision detection, internal notes with @mentions and shareable permalinks on every plan
- Shared templates with folders and Liquid variables on every plan. The pricing page files these under "Knowledge Base Templates", but they are canned email replies, not a help center your customers can see
- If/then workflows assign, tag, prioritise or change status. Essentials allows 2 workflows; Advanced and up allow unlimited
- Agent availability and an autoresponder on every plan; round-robin assignment starts at Advanced
- SOC 2 Type II on every plan; a signed BAA on the HIPAA plan only
- Runs in Chrome and Safari. On a phone you use a mobile-friendly web portal; the pages we read name no native app
- Missing: neither the homepage nor the pricing page mentions live chat, social DMs, SMS, phone or a customer-facing help center. Email is the only channel

Prices are an agent a month, in US dollars. Source: keeping.com/pricing, checked .
- Every plan is per user, per month, with a 2-user minimum and a 14-day free trial that needs no card
- Essentials $19 billed monthly, $14 billed annually: 2 shared mailboxes, 10 agents maximum, 2 workflows, standard reporting, Slack as the only integration
- Advanced $29 billed monthly, $24 billed annually: unlimited mailboxes and agents, unlimited workflows, SLAs, CSAT, shared drafts, custom fields, CSV export, every integration
- HIPAA $59 billed monthly, $49 billed annually: everything in Advanced plus a signed BAA, an uptime SLA, a dedicated account manager and custom payment terms
- Smallest possible bill: two Essentials seats, $38 a month billed monthly or $28 a month billed annually
- Annual billing saves about 26% on Essentials and about 17% on Advanced and HIPAA
- There is no free plan. The homepage's "Start Free in Gmail" button starts the 14-day trial
- The page has a Monthly/Annually toggle. Each plan's text states both figures, but we have not confirmed which setting the page opens on
AI pricing (there is almost nothing to price)
- Keeping publishes no AI line item, meter or add-on
- The only AI feature listed is Thank You Detection, which flags customer replies that need no answer. It is on Advanced and HIPAA only
- None of the pages we read mention AI-drafted replies, summaries, an AI agent that answers customers, or AI that acts on an order
- Next to desks that charge per AI resolution, this is the trade-off: nothing is metered because almost nothing is there
Before you commit
- Gmail only. Keeping requires Gmail or Google Workspace, so moving to Microsoft 365 later means leaving Keeping
- Shopify and WooCommerce integrations start at Advanced. Five agents cost $145 a month on Advanced against $95 on Essentials, both billed monthly. That is $50 a month to connect your store
- We could not check what the Shopify integration lets an agent do: view orders only, or also refund and cancel. Test it during the trial before you budget for it
- Hiring an 11th agent forces the plan change. 10 agents on Essentials cost $190 billed monthly ($140 billed annually); 11 agents on Advanced cost $319 billed monthly ($264 billed annually)
- Two workflows on Essentials run out fast. A spam filter and one assignment rule use them both
- On Essentials, response-time and mailbox reports are "Basic". Reports by tag, busiest-times reports and CSV export start at Advanced
- Only the HIPAA plan has an uptime SLA, at $59 per user billed monthly or $49 billed annually
- Keeping's own pages disagree on mailboxes. The homepage promises "Unlimited shared inboxes... Without charging extra!", but the pricing page caps Essentials at 2
- The FAQ says mail is routed through Keeping's servers, and in the next answer says Keeping is hosted on Google's servers. Neither answer says where your data is stored
- The pages we read do not cover conversation export, data residency or migration tooling
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Who should buy
- Google Workspace teams who support customers by email and want agents to stay in Gmail
- Small DTC shops with two to ten people on support@ who need assignment and collision detection, not a full platform
- Health-adjacent sellers who need a signed BAA at a published per-seat price
Who should skip it
- Anyone on Microsoft 365 or Outlook
- Stores where chat, Instagram or WhatsApp carry real volume
- Phone-first support teams
- Teams that want AI to draft replies or close tickets without an agent
- Shops that need a public help center to field "where is my order" questions
- Teams on the entry plan that expect to grow past ten agents
How we checked this
Prices and plan features come from the text of Keeping's pricing page (keeping.com/pricing), read on 2026-10-07. Each plan states both its monthly and annual figure, but we have not yet confirmed either toggle setting with a screenshot. Positioning and setup claims come from the homepage, read the same day. We could not read Keeping's help center, status page, security page or integration docs for this draft. That leaves uptime history, data residency, conversation export and the Shopify integration's actions unchecked. Where Keeping's own pages disagree, on mailbox limits and on whose servers carry your mail, we recorded the conflict rather than the more flattering reading. No review-site text was used.
