ProProfs Help Desk is the ticketing product in the ProProfs family, sold next to its own live chat, knowledge base and survey tools. It is an email-first shared inbox with a free single-agent plan, and it sells the rest (social channels, the API, SSO, the mobile app, autonomous AI) by moving you up a tier or into a bundle. For a small DTC team the question is less what it does than which plan you have to buy to get it.

What it does

  • Shared inbox that turns email into tickets, with unlimited ticket history on the free plan (pricing)
  • Internal notes with @mentions, child tickets split out to other departments, priorities, filters and labels (homepage)
  • Round-robin and rule-based assignment, canned responses, automated alerts (homepage)
  • CSAT sent automatically when a ticket closes, from Essentials up; NPS only on Business Complete Elite (pricing)
  • Branded customer portal where customers check ticket status and history (homepage)
  • Scheduled reports emailed daily, weekly or monthly (homepage)
  • Live chat and knowledge base are separate ProProfs products; offline chat messages become tickets through the integration (pricing)
  • WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, SMS and Telegram are listed only on Business Complete Elite; Business adds email and web forms and nothing else (pricing)
  • Missing: no voice channel appears on the pricing page, although the homepage setup wizard offers "Phone" as a ticket source (homepage)
  • Missing from the pages we read: any Shopify or other ecommerce-platform integration. The named CRMs are Salesforce and MS Dynamics (pricing)

Pricing at a glance

  • Paid plan prices: not verified, contact sales or check the live page. The pricing table switches between monthly and annual in JavaScript, and the page text we read is not consistent enough to quote (see How we checked this)
  • Free: $0, one agent, forever free, capped at 100 email tickets a month (pricing)
  • Essentials: one user, 1,000 tickets a month, price not verified (pricing)
  • Business: one user, 6,000 tickets a month, price not verified (pricing)
  • Business Complete Elite: sold as three user seats, 15,000 tickets a month, price not verified. The Buy Now link carries agents=3 (pricing)
  • Customer Delight Suite (Help Desk with Live Chat, Knowledge Base, Survey Maker and Qualaroo): the page shows "Starts at $499/month" and, on the same card, "$5,988 annually", so annual billing. No monthly-billed price is shown, and the button is Contact Us. Unlimited users, 60,000 tickets a month (pricing)
  • White Label package: $300 billed annually. It removes the "Powered By" links (pricing)
  • The toggle says annual billing saves "up to 50%". That gap is too big to guess across, so get both figures in writing (pricing)
  • No credit card is needed for the trial, and there is a 15-day money-back guarantee on paid plans (pricing)
  • No overage rate is published for any of the monthly ticket caps

AI pricing (no meter, sold by tier)

  • ProProfs publishes no per-resolution or per-interaction AI price. The AI you get depends on the plan (pricing)
  • Essentials: 50 AI-drafted replies a month, AI ticket categorization, grammar and spell check. At the 1,000-ticket cap, 50 drafts covers 5% of your volume
  • Business adds an AI first-response generator and one-click tone rewriting
  • Business Complete Elite adds emotion and sentiment detection, plus redaction of card numbers and personal identifiers from transcripts and agent views
  • AI that reads a ticket, answers from the knowledge base and closes it with no agent is listed under the Customer Delight Suite ("AI Resolves 50%+ Tickets", the vendor's claim), not under any Help Desk plan (pricing)
  • The homepage markets an AI Agent that "reads, decides, and closes the repetitive tickets on its own" without saying which plan includes it (homepage)
  • What it can't do, as far as the pages say: the "agentic" actions listed are creating CRM leads and tickets, sending follow-up emails and triggering workflows. Nothing mentions cancelling, editing or refunding an order (pricing)

Before you commit

  • Ticket caps are monthly and no overage policy is published. Ask what happens to ticket number 1,001 on Essentials during a sale week, before you have one
  • The social channels a DTC brand actually gets messages on start at the three-seat Elite plan
  • API and webhooks, SAML SSO, roles and permissions, and the native mobile app are all listed under Elite. The homepage describes roles and the iOS/Android app with no tier attached. Ask which reading your plan gets (pricing, homepage)
  • Security is described as "SOC2-aligned operational controls", which is not a claim of a SOC 2 report. If you need the report, ask for it (pricing)
  • Data residency is not stated on the pages we read
  • Cancelling means emailing billing@proprofs.com. No self-serve cancellation is described (pricing)
  • Cards only (Visa, MasterCard, Amex), with no PayPal. ACH or cheque only applies to purchases over $3,000, and each carries a $100 processing fee (pricing)
  • Phone support from ProProfs runs Mon–Fri, 8AM–6PM EST, according to the homepage. The Business plan card promises phone support "any time" (homepage, pricing)

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Who should buy

  • Solo operators and two-person shops running support out of one inbox, who can live on the free plan or Essentials
  • Teams already paying for ProProfs Chat or Knowledge Base who want tickets in the same family
  • Internal IT or HR desks that need email tickets, child tickets and a status portal, and not social messaging

Who should skip it

  • Shopify brands whose tickets are mostly about orders. Nothing on the pages we read lets an agent or the AI touch an order from the ticket
  • Small teams whose customers write in on Instagram or WhatsApp, because those channels are gated behind the three-seat Elite plan
  • Anyone who needs a SOC 2 report, stated data residency or a published uptime figure before signing
  • Buyers who want to know exactly what the bill will be before the trial starts

How we checked this

We read ProProfs's homepage and pricing page on 2026-10-07, and fetched the pricing page a second time that day to check the first read. The paid plan prices are not published here. The table is drawn by a JavaScript monthly/annual toggle, and the page text mixes both states. Essentials and Business show the same monthly figure while their annual lines differ by a factor of two. The annual lines are labelled in a way that could be read as either a yearly or a monthly rate. There are also leftover figures in the page code that buyers are not shown. Paid prices will go in only once we have screenshots of both toggle states.

ProProfs's own pages contradict each other in several places, and we recorded each one rather than picking the better reading. The free plan is billed as having "all premium features" but caps tickets and leaves reports, the mobile app, the API and SSO unticked. Unlimited inboxes are ticked on the free plan but listed as a Business addition. The FAQ says every subscription includes the knowledge base, but the plan list puts it in higher tiers and the suite. The same FAQ names a "Premium" plan that the table does not have, and the suite card says both "5 tools" and "All 4 products".

We could not read the integrations, trust or status pages for this draft, so integration depth, compliance documents and uptime are unverified. No review-site text was used.
